- The sleeve gastrectomy:operation consisting of a resection of a large part of the stomach so that the food passes only through a much smaller stomach in the shape of a tube
- The adjustable gastric ring:surgery that consists of reducing the diameter of the stomach by placing an adjustable gastric ring

This website was created by two doctors: Doctor Anne-Catherine Dandrifosse, digestive surgeon and doctor nutritionist consultant at Mont Saint Martin Clinique in Liège and at CHIREC at Hospital Delta and at the City Clinic in Brussels (Its hospitalisations are done in the new hospital, Delta, which opened its doors December 17th.) and Doctor Jacques Himpens, MD, PhD associate professor of surgery at the European School of Laparoscopic Surgery (director: Guy-Bernard Cadière) and chief of bariatric surgery at the CHIREC in Brussels, and the St Blasius general hospital in Dendermonde in Belgium.
Who are Anne-Catherine Dandrifosse and Jacques Himpens?
Since 2002, the Doctor Dandrifosse has been a digestive surgeon. She is an obesity surgeon and consults at the Mont Saint Martin Clinique in Liège, at Medical Cabinet of Sauvenière in Liège. She is also a bariatric surgeon at Obesity Centre at Delta Hospital in Brussels. She practiced until 2015 at Centre Hospitalier Régional de Liège. She held, among others, the position of Head of Service. Anne-Catherine Dandrifosse received in 2015 a university diploma in Nutrition Clinique (Ulg, UCL, ULB).
Doctor Himpens, a surgeon since 1982, is a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery and a world renown expert in obesity surgery. His current activity is shared between the Bariatric Surgery Team Management at CHIREC in Brussels, European School of Laparoscopy at Saint Pierre Hospital in Brussels. He has performed more than 15,000 obesity surgeries, published more than 150 medical articles, written several chapters of a book. He is the co-editor of the “Obesity Surgery” journal and is a member of the Editorial Committee of “SOARD”.
He is the President of the International Federation of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (IFSO) 2017-2018.
